Business and Marketing Education
Master of Education in Business (and/or Marketing) Education
Computer Technology Endorsement Certificate
The master's program in Business Education with the Computer Technology Endorsement Certificate option is available completely online.
Through this option, business and marketing education graduate students will:
- Develop advanced knowledge and skills in the area of business and marketing education
- Develop knowledge and skills in technology that enhance their students’ learning
- Demonstrate leadership skills for local, state or national educational technology initiatives
The program is focused on skills and content related to 21st century teaching and learning.
This program is available to English proficient students around the world. However, the following information is applicable for those holding teaching licenses in Ohio.
Upon completion of the designated 16 credit hours within the 33 credit hour masters program that are required by the Ohio Department of Education for adding the computer technology endorsement to their Ohio teaching license, the graduate student can apply for that endorsement.
This computer technology endorsement allows teachers to:
- teach computer science courses from grades K-12 (including non-career technical multimedia literacy, technology communication and problem-solving, electronic resources, technology and ethics, computer graphics, web site development, etc.)
- provide leadership for local, state and even national educational technology initiatives
(such as serving as a technology facilitator/coordinator and as a professional development provider)
Although business teachers are already licensed to teach a variety of computer technology-related subjects, this endorsement allows them to teach additional courses within the computer technology and computer science field. It also prepares them to be a technology facilitator (coordinator) for their school district.
Upon graduation, all graduate students completing this program receive a BGSU certificate along with their masters degree.
