There are a variety of stressors that can trigger a short-term adjustment disorder. When the symptoms linger longer than expected or begin to exacerbate, it may be time to re-evaluate clients for an anxiety, panic, depressive or substance misuse disorder.
1. Identify and define an adjustment disorder
2. Understand client triggers for developing an adjustment disorder.
3. Be able to identify when the diagnosis of adjustment disorder needs to be re-evaluated and identify co-existing conditions.
