Infantry Units: 24th Ohio Volunteer Infantry

Infantry units were recruited from all over the state. Those represented in detail here are the ones recruited primarily from northwest Ohio counties and those whose members wrote to local newspapers. More information will be added as it becomes available.

This Regiment was organized at Camps Chase and Jackson, Ohio, from May 29-June 17, 1861 to serve three years. It was mustered out by companies, at different dates, from June 17-24, 1864, by reason of expiration of term of service.

  • Ringgold, GA (Taylor's Ridge), November 27, 1863
  • Buzzard Roost, GA (Rocky Face Ridge), February 25-27, 1864
