Chaplain John Boggs<,/a>

John Boggs enlisted as Chaplain of the 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on October 7, 1862, mustering into service the same day. He resigned his post December 10, 1863.

Roster - Company D, 118th OVI

First Lieutenant Anthony Bowsher

Anthony Bowsher was born July 8, 1837 to Henry and Margaret (Dickens) Bowsher in Bowsherville, Ohio. He enlisted as a 24 year old First Sergeant of Co. C, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 12, 1862 and was mustered into service September 15, 1862. He served with the regiment throughout the war, taking part in the battles of Mossy Creek, Resaca, Kenesaw Mountain, Atlanta, and Nashville before the regiment was sent to North Carolina, where it took part in the assault on Fort Anderson. Bowsher was promoted to First Lieutenant to date January 23, 1865, and transferred to Co. D. He was discharged May 26, 1865. He died August 25, 1871 and is buried in Old Mission Cemetery, Wyandot Co., Ohio.

Enlisted, age 20, August 11, 1862 to serve three years; died February 11, 1864 at Knoxville, TN

Corporal Benjamin Franklin Post

Benjamin F. Post enlisted as a 24 year old Private in Company D, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 11, 1862, mustering into service September 12, 1862. Promoted to Corporal during his service, he was mustered out May 25, 1865 at Knoxville, Tennessee.

Corporal Elliott S. McMichael

Elliott S. McMichael enlisted as a 29 year old Corporal in Company E, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 20, 1862, mustering into service September 12, 1862. He was discharged for disability on July 8, 1864 at Cleveland, Ohio.

Roster - Company G, 118th OVI

Sergeant Franklin W. Nigh

Franklin W. Nigh enlisted as a 25 year old Sergeant in Company G, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 18, 1862, mustering into service September 13, 1862. He served with the regiment for about two years until he died of disease October 5, 1864 in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital.

Private William Seifried

William Seifried enlisted as a 28 year old Private in Company G, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 26, 1862, and mustered into service September 13, 1862. The regiment spent much of its service guarding railroads in Kentucky, but took part in the Atlanta campaign and the battles of Franklin and Nashville. He mustered out of service May 22, 1865 at Camp Dennison, Ohio.

Private Joseph Smart

Joseph Smart enlisted as a 26 year old private in Company G, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on August 22, 1862, mustering into service September 13, 1862. He served with the regiment through its entire service, mustering out June 5, 1865 at Columbus, Ohio.

Roster - Company I, 118th OVI

First Lieutenant Martin L. Higgins

Martin L. Higgins enlisted as a 31 year old First Lieutenant in Company I, 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on July 23, 1862 and received his commission September 13, 1862. During Higgins' service, the 118th Ohio was engaged in guarding the railroad in northern Kentucky. He remained with the regiment for only a few months before resigning his commission March 24, 1863. He later enlisted as a substitute Private in Company G, 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, mustering in February 21, 1865 and being discharged May 1, 1865.
