The First Universalist Church of Norwalk, Ohio began in December 1867 as an outreach ministry of the First Universalist Church of Peru, Ohio, with Rev. Henry L. Canfield serving as its first pastor. Sunday School began in April of the following year, and the church was formally organized on January 17, 1869. The First Universalist Church of Norwalk disbanded in the early 1990s due primarily to declining membership.
