Introduction | Agency History | Order of Microfilming

The records of St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1953 - 2002, were transferred for microfilming to the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio 43403, in May 2002, with the cooperation of Reverend Thomas J. Landgraff of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

The collection consists of baptisms*, first communions, confirmations, marriages*, reception into full communion, register o f catechumens, book of the elect and deaths. Due to inconsistencies in pagination and transcription of data, researchers are encouraged to refer to all volumes within each series. (See order of microfilming for a detailed list of these records.)

This register and this collection was prepared by Rachel Diegel in May 2002.

*There is a seventy (70) year access restriction on baptism and marriage records. No restrictions apply to the remainder of this collection.

 Agency History

The parish of St. Pius X Catholic Church was formed from the territory of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in 1952. The Oblate Fathers of St. Francis de Sales were given charge of this new parish. Their first pastor was Reverend William A. Stahl.

Mass was temporarily said at the Colony Theater on Monroe and Central Avenue. By December of 1953, their church and school buildings were ready for use. A convent was added one year later.
