Preservation Issues for New Music Festival Materials

1) Many of the scores require specially made envelopes custom fit to accommodate their unusually large shapes or sizes.  These are sent to a preservation lab off-campus and returned to the music library when completed.
2) Some scores are merely photocopies of original scores and may not be suitable for performance or research if they are not kept in a proper environment.
3) Labels on recording start falling off after a short time.
4) Many scores contain staples or paper clips that need to be removed before shelving.
5) More space and a better environment are both necessary to continue housing and preserving this collection.
