Introduction | Biographical Sketch | Scope and Content | Series Description | Inventory

Introduction

Jonathan Slott was a writer, director, and producer of radio, television, and moving pictures. Radio and television scripts and literary manuscripts form the core of the collection.

In 1975, Slott began transferring his manuscripts to the Browne Popular Culture Library, Bowling Green State University. The collection is open for research, however, the photocopying of manuscripts must comply with applicable copyright laws. This register was compiled by Nancy White Lee, Library Associate II, in April 1986 and updated in August 2009 by Patricia Falk.

Biographical Sketch

Jonathan Slott was a retired writer, director, and producer of radio, television, and moving pictures. Additionally, he was active in public relations, political campaigns, and the fund raising business. Slott wrote several books, but they were never published. He used radio scripts as a basis for television and moving picture productions. Slott died March 2, 1998.

Scope and Content

The Jonathan Slott Collection houses correspondence; radio, television, book, and moving picture manuscripts; and a business activities diary. The correspondence is arranged alphabetically by correspondent. The manuscripts are arranged alphabetically by title including related materials such as outlines, proposals, and synopses.

Researchers will find the correspondence concerning the book manuscripts most interesting. Slott received critiques of his manuscripts from several people including Irving Wallace. Suggestions for improvements are included in this series.

Researchers interested in radio and early television scripts will find this collection a valuable help to their research.
