Life span: ~20 years

Active: diurnal

Habitat: terrestrial, range of habitats from coastal heath, forests and woodlands, to montane forests

Lighting: full spectrum fluorescent & incandescent for heat

Foods: in wild: insects, snails, carrion & wildflowers, native fruits & berries
In captivity: crickets (calcium/vitamin dusted), mealworms, fruits, blossoms & other vegetation

Temperament: mellow when housed individually, fight savagely if housed together

Notes: live-bearing; short limbs; babies prone to metabolic bone disease (Ca deficiency); very aggressive to conspecifics
