I-O Psychology Doctoral Program
Welcome to BGSU's I-O Psychology Website
The goal of BGSU’s third-ranked I-O Psychology graduate program is to prepare students for careers as active contributors to the psychology of work. Learning and developmental experiences are provided through coursework, research, and applied projects.
BGSU students acquire a solid foundation in psychological theories and principles through their coursework. Study from a variety of psychological areas within the department ensures our students will emerge from BGSU’s doctoral program as well-rounded scientist-practitioners.
I-O graduate students are strongly encouraged to engage in research during their time in the program. Our faculty members are active researchers, and their research interests cover a wide range of I-O topics. This excellent research training has led to top-notch placements of BGSU graduates. Additionally, BGSU student’s have the opportunity to present their research at conferences such as the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Work, Stress, and Health, the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Association, and the Society of Judgment and Decision Making, and have also led to many publications.
Students gain applied experience through projects with area businesses contracted through the Institute for Psychological Research and Application . Additionally, although not required, many BGSU students take summer or year-long internships to gain more applied experience.
These three aspects of BGSU’s I-O program are just some of many other important characteristics that deserve to be mentioned. We recommend you explore this site and its many pages of information. We think you will quickly see why we view the BGSU program to be truly exceptional because of certain program attributes like: (1) our strong culture of collaboration and cooperation, (2) a fast rate of student progress (approx. 4.5 years), (3) an extensive alumni network (as one of the nation’s earliest I-O programs).
