Lab Problem Reporting

 

In an effort to better serve the Bowling Green State University user community, Information Technology Services (ITS) has undertaken a new method for reporting problems in lab facilities. This new method has been created so that ITS can respond to and resolve problems in a quicker, more efficient manner.

Please select the type of lab facility in which you are experiencing problems:

 Open Labs

Open Labs are multi-platform, shared facilities available to BGSU students, faculty, and staff. Many of these labs are staffed, and some are open 24 hours. Examples of open labs are the Library Lab, Tech Lab, and the numerous Residence Hall labs.

Lab staff report problems in the open labs

To report a problem in an open lab, the lab staff should go to the University Computer Problem in ITS Labs form and fill in all of the fields. Please have the following information ready:

  • BGSU P00 number
  • Your name
  • Lab type (open or residential)
  • Lab name
  • Asset ID number   
  • Table or computer tag number
  • Problem category (hardware, software, or network.
  • Problem type
  • Problem description

If the problem affects multiple systems in the lab, contact the Technology Support Center at 419-372-0999 during normal business hours. During non-business hours, contact Operations at 419-372-7757.

Instructional Labs

Any faculty or staff member may reserve an instructional lab for classes, workshops, or other academic purposes. Examples of instructional labs are the East Hall labs and Olscamp Hall lab.

Faculty and staff report problems in the instructional labs

To report problems in instructional labs, faculty and staff can either  e-mail or contact the Technology Support Center at 419-372-0999. If the problem you are experiencing occurs after hours and affects several computers in the lab, please call Operations at 419-372-7757. Please have the following information ready:

  • BGSU P00 number
  • Lab name and location
  • Asset ID number
  • Description of the problem including any error messages you may have received

 Department Labs

Some departments assist in maintaining a lab specifically designed for faculty and students within their department. Examples include the Sociology Grad Lab and the Philosophy Lab.

Department contacts report problems in department labs

To report problems in department labs, department contacts can either  e-mail or contact the Technology Support Center at 419-372-0999. Please have the following information ready:

  • BGSU P00 number
  • Lab name and location
  • Asset ID number
  • Description of the problem including any error messages you may have received

 Resource Rooms

A resource room is a small, shared facility in a residential unit. Each sorority and fraternity has a resource room, for example.

House Managers report problems in resource rooms

To report problems in a resource room, a House Manager can either  e-mail or contact the Technology Support Center at 419-372-0999. Please have the following information ready:

  • BGSU P00 number
  • Name and location of the resource room
  • Asset ID number
  • Description of the problem including any error messages you may have received

 E-mail Stations

There are more than 50 e-mail stations placed in public areas across campus. These stations are in addition to computer lab facilities and are intended for easy accessibility by students for e-mail.

Anyone may report problems with e-mail stations

To report problems with an e-mail station, either  e-mail or contact the Technology Support Center at 419-372-0999. Please have the following information ready:

  • BGSU P00 number
  • Name and location of the e-mail station
  • Asset ID number
  • Description of the problem including any error messages you may have received
