Snap Survey Software FAQs

 

What is Snap?

With Snap software, you can create and format surveys, publish them to the web, set up email invitations and reminders to respondents, import and analyze response data, create and edit tables and charts of response data and export them to other applications. Snap can also produce optically-scannable, email, and PDA surveys too but it is primarily used for web surveys at BGSU.

What is the ASP Survey Submission Script location ?

You will need to supply the ASP Survey Submission Script location in the Replies Settings when you configure your survey for publication.  The script location is http://survey.bgsu.edu/deptsubmit.asp with dept replaced by the name of your department or office.  For more information, see Configuring and Publishing a Snap Web Survey at BGSU.

What is the Output Path for Web Survey?

You will need to supply the Output Path for your web survey in the Basics Settings when you configure your survey for publication.  This is the location of the folder that contains your survey on your desktop. For more information, see Configuring and Publishing a Snap Web Survey at BGSU.

How do I change the Output Path for my survey if I want to save it on my desktop or my department's file share?

To change the Output Path, you will need to change the output path on the Survey Overview window before you create a new survey.  Click the Browse button to select the new location.  Then create a new survey.

How do I access the folder to publish my Snap survey to the web?

After the Snap survey software in installed on your system, there should b a shortcut on your desktop or a mapped drive to your department's or office's folder.  If neither exists, type \\wsweb02\snap$\ at the Run prompt and then click on your department's or office's folder .  Copying your Snap survey folder from your desktop to this folder will publish it on the web.

How do I determine the URL or link to the survey I published?

The link that you will give to survey respondents is http://survey.bgsu.edu/surveys/dept/surveyname/surveyname.htm with dept replaced by your folder name on the Snap web server and surveyname replaced with the name of your survey.  The text of dept is case specific and surveyname is all lowercase.

What is the Data Input Source?

The data from respondents who take your survey is stored at the following address: \\wsweb02\snap$\dept\responses\survey\ There will be a text file in this directory with the same filename you gave to your survey with the results stored in it.
