EMS Master Calendar Outage & Upgrade - Fri July 15

The EMS Master Calendar software will be upgraded to version 3.1 on Friday, July 15.  All calendars and events current in v2.0 will be converted to 3.1 and will be available for viewing and editing immediately following the upgrade. 

As a result of this upgrade the master calendar will be unavailable from 12:01 to 2 a.m. on Friday, July 15.

Submissions to the events calendar should continue to be directed to events@bgsu.edu however, the system administration responsibilities for the EMS Master Calendar will be moving from ITS to Marketing & Communications.  After July 15, please direct items related to the system administration of the EMS Master Calendar to Jen Sobolewski in Marketing & Communications.

The CSS Oracle PeopleSoft application will be unavailable on Sun July 10 from 12:01 - 6 a.m.  During this outage period, access to CSS self-service applications such as Student Center, Faculty Center, Class Search/Browse Course Catalog, View My Paycheck, Manager Information, Time & Labor, and Benefits Enrollment self-service as well as CSS applications used in the back offices will be unavailable.

   Hayes Hall access / TSC Hours for Sat. July 9

Due to maintenance work being completed within Hayes Hall on Saturday, July 9 there will be no access to the building from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Walk-in hours for the Technology Support Center in Hayes Hall will be cancelled for July 9, however phone support at 2-0999 will continue to be available between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The loading dock area between Hayes Hall and Eppler as well as the Overman Hall meter lot will also be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic during this time.

As the work to be completed is subject to favorable weather conditions, this plan may be modified closer to the scheduled work date.

 FMS Availability

New BGSU Password Management Process in place as of May 16

As of  Monday, May 16 a new BGSU Password Management Process will be in place.

The BGSU Password Management process will:

  • bring the ability to use a self-service application to reset a forgotten password
  • introduce additional security for BGSU accounts by each account holder establishing personal security questions and answers
  • introduce additional security by requiring account holders to change their BGSU account password on a regular 180-day interval.

WRL Outage Announced

On Monday May 23rd from 12:01 am – 1:30 am the Web Report Library will be unavailable in order to complete system maintenance. Scheduled reports will run as expected and all reports will be available immediately following the outage. Following the outage, WRL users will notice the website will have a new color scheme however, all functionality will remain the same.

  New Account Creation / Change Password to be unavailable

On Monday, May 16 from 12:01 - 6 a.m., the application to create a new BGSU account and the "Change Password" application will be unavailable in order to complete an upgrade.

  Hayes Hall access / TSC hours for Saturday May 14

Due to maintenance work being completed within Hayes Hall on Saturday, May 14 there will be no access to the building from 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Walk-in hours for the Technology Support Center in 110 Hayes Hall will be cancelled for May 14 however phone support at 2-0999 will continue to be available between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

In preparation for the work being completed on Saturday, May 14 the loading dock area between Hayes Hall and Eppler will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13 until the crane leaves on Saturday, May 14.

  • SNAP survey software - any surveys that begin with a http://survey.bgsu.edu url will be unavailable to be taken, created, or accesed
  • The OnBase document imaging system available at dim.bgsu.edu - both web site and desktop application will be unavailable. Invoice viewing through PeopleSoft FMS will be unavailable.

 Work on network switches scheduled

An outage of one of the campus backbone network switches will occur from 6 - 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12 in order to complete hardware and software upgrades.  There should not be any impact to users during this upgrade and all network traffic will continue to flow normally.

 7th Annual BGSU Office of the CIO Golf Outing - Friday July 29

The Office of the CIO would like to extend an invitation to all faculty, staff, students and community members to participate in the 7th annual BGSU Office of the CIO Golf Outing.

This event is scheduled for Friday, July 29 at the Stone Ridge Golf Club.  Registration includes 18 holes of golf, complimentary range balls prior to the round, two drink tickets and appetizers following the competition.  Prizes will be awarded.  Teams of four will complete in a best ball scramble format.

  ASAC software requests available

The application process for this year's requests for instructional software via the Academic Software Advisory Committee (ASAC) has been established.

Beginning Monday, April 4 at 8 a.m. and continuing through Monday, April 18 at 5 p.m. faculty, including chairs and directors may complete software requests online.

The ASAC web page provides details regarding the project timeline, application process, application form, review criteria and a listing of ASAC committee members.

  iOS/iPad Deployment and Management Presentation

iOS Deployment and Management will be the topic of a presentation offered on Thursday, April 14 from 9-11 a.m. in 103 Olscamp Hall (Academic Resource Center/StudentTech).  Jeff Wilson, an Apple Education System Engineer will share information on iOS in terms of an overview and accessibility, enterprise features and management, deployment and app purchases.

ePortfolio and Learning Management System (LMS) Review

BGSU is completing a review of the currently supported ePorfolio and Learning Management System (LMS).

Participants will be attending vendor demos throughout March and April and providing feedback regarding the demonstrated solutions. The review participants represent faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate constituents.

  StudentTech and IMS Name Changes

As of Friday, April 1 both StudentTech and IMS will undergo a name change.

    • StudentTech will be renamed Academic Resource Center (ARC) in order to incorporate their assistance to faculty within their name.
    • The name of Instructional Media (IMS) will be changed to Classroom Technology Services in order to better reflect the support and services offered within this area.
