University Calls to Cell Phones in the 419 and 567 area codes now local calls

In conjunction with BGSU business partner Buckeye Telesystem, ITS is pleased to announce that effective immediately, calls from university phones (office phones and residence hall phones) to cell phones in the Toledo geographical region with 419 and 567 area codes are local calls.  As a local call, there will be no charge for making these calls from campus.

Rather than dialing 9-1-419-xxx-xxxx or 9-1-567-xxx-xxxx, these calls will now be dialed as 9-419-xxx-xxxx or 9-567-xxx-xxxx.

A listing of all the phone exchanges (both wireline and cell) that are considered a local call when dialing from a University phone is available for your reference.

Any questions regarding this change may be directed to the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 2-0999 or tsc@bgnet.bgsu.edu

Friday, May 2 @ 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in 203 Hayes Hall
Visitors to BGSU via the web will soon see the new "look and feel" of the University's Web pages.

The implementation of a Web content management system will allow the University to represent itself online with new uniformity. Consistency of design and content for presentation of the campus calendar, events, generic articles, University and college home pages, and second and third level pages of University sites will allow for easier management of content associated with BGSU and will improve the ability to provide accurate and date sensitive material. The Web pages of the president, executive vice president, chief information officer and faculty senate will be among the sites first transitioned to demonstrate the design and use of content management.

Throughout the next year, Web pages will be identified for inclusion in the content management system. Training sessions on how to use the content editors for the content management system will be offered.

The focus of the project will be the branding, ease of use and content management of the University's Web presence. To answer questions about the content management system, open sessions have been scheduled on May 1 & 2. Bruce Petryshak, chief information officer; Deb Wells, office of web development; Kim McBroom and Fred Connor, marketing and communications will be available during these times to answer your questions.
