Outages Scheduled

The following outages have been scheduled: 

  • On Mon Dec 22 from 12:01 - 1 a.m. the Rhythmyx Web Content Management (CMS) system will be unavailable for creating, editing, and publishing web pages; however, BGSU web pages will remain accessible for viewing and reference. 
  • Due to maintenance being performed on Tues Dec 23 from 4-6 a.m. the following applications will be unavailable: podcast.bgsu.edu, classwork.bgsu.edu, bgsuri.bgsu.edu, cosmos.bgsu.edu, gradcollege.bgsu.edu, ncmr.bgsu.edu, ice.bgsu.edu, cobl.bgsu.edu, asit.bgsu.edu, and curs.bgsu.edu 
  • Due to system maintenance, the BGSU email system will experience an outage from 3-4 a.m. on Monday, Dec 29. This outage will also affect user access to the junkmail.bgsu.edu quarantine. During the outage period all email services will be unavailable, including all checking, sending or receiving of mail and access to OWA. All inbound messages will be queued for delivery following completion of the outage period.

PGP Outage

PGP will be unavailable between 12:01 and 5 a.m. on Thursday, December 18 in order to complete system maintenance. During this time users will not be able to search the keyserver for new keys to encrypt files. Users will be able to use whole disk encryption (WDE) and will be able to encrypt and decrypt files local to their system. Please direct any questions regarding this outage to the Technology Support Center (TSC) at tsc@bgsu.edu , 2-0999.

The OnBase document imaging system available at dim.bgsu.edu will be unavailable on Wednesday, December 17 from 3-6 a.m. in order to complete system maintenance. During the time of this outage both the web site and the desktop application will be unavailable. Also, invoice viewing through PeopleSoft will be unavailable during this outage period. BG@100 CSS December Go-Live

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event is scheduled for the weekend of Dec 5-7. This implementation includes Resource 25 being interfaced to CSS, the availability of additional Self Service features including: Student self service for biographic and demographic data, additional Employee self service fields, and course catalog and schedule of classes for Summer 2009. The December implementation will also include Financial Aid Item Type, Restricted Aid, and Aid Year activation in CSS. Further details about the changes that will be in place as a result of this implementation are available for your reference here. 

 

In addition a Sneak Peek of the addition features available with Employee self service may be referenced at CSS Sneak Peek #2 and a Sneak Peek of the features that will be available with Student self service may be found at CSS Sneak Peek #3.

Access to CSS self-service applications such as "View My Paycheck", "My Compensation History", and "Manager Information" as well as CSS applications used in the "back office" will be unavailable during the time of this outage.

BG@100 Open Forum

The December BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union will feature the topic: CSS Program / Plan. This presentation is designed to offer a basic introduction Program/Plan as it pertains to Student Records in CSS. This will not be a training session but will provide information regarding the CSS Program / Plan. Topics to be covered include: what Program/Plan is; how to navigate through the screens in CSS; and how to add to or change a Program/Plan. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions implementation.

In preparation for the BG@100 CSS Go-Live scheduled for December 8, the campus community is invited to attend a CSS Town Hall event on Thursday, December 4. 

 

This Town Hall session will focus on the features and impact of the December implementation which includes Resource25 being interface to CSS, the availability of additional Self Service features including: Student Self Service for biographic and demographic data, additional Employee Self Service fields, Course Catalog and Schedule of Classes for Summer 2009. The December implementation will also include Financial Aid Item Type, Restricted Aid, and Aid Year activation in CSS. 

 

All interested faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this event scheduled for Thursday, December 4 from 8 - 9 a.m. in 113 Olscamp Hall. (Please note, the time and location of this event have changed from the original announcement). This teleconferenced event will also include those at Firelands in 1004 Cedar Point Center.   • The web application for eTime for Students will be unavailable for use; however, card readers will remain operational.

Change in appearance of names in Blackboard (elearning.bgsu.edu)

On November 10, middle names will be removed from Blackboard (elearning.bgsu.edu) in response to requests from faculty for this service. On that date all names, including email messages generated from within Blackboard, will contain only first names and last names. BG@100 Open Forum

The November BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union will feature the topic: Understanding Student Records, Financial Aid, and Student Financials. 

 

This presentation will examine from a Campus Solutions (CSS) perspective the areas of Student Records, Financial Aid and Student Financials including an introduction to how some processes may be completed, statistics, and examples of screen shots that will be available to users for viewing information.

CSS Advisory Session - Thursday, October 30

Understanding Academic Structure will be presented on Thursday, October 30 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in 1007 Business Administration. In this session participants will be introduced to the various components of the CSS Academic Structure. Those attending will learn Academic Structure terminology and components and how they relate to current SIS components. This presentation will be led by a member of the BG@100 project team and is open to anyone who will be using CSS. This session will supplement the information provided in the prerequisite training courses and quizzes required prior to requesting security access to CSS. System Outages Announced

The outage of an ITS database server will occur from 12:01 -6 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, in order to complete upgrades. As a result, multiple applications that are dependent on database information will be unavailable, including but not limited to:  Production ERP (CSS and FMS), DARS, e-Time for Students, Rhythmyx, CMS, BG1 Card (2 a.m. - 6 a.m.), Xythos, MyFiles, Pinnacle, OnBase, Remedy, Math Placement Test, English Placement Test, Schedule of Classes, Course Catalog information, Change Password, Pyramed, and Digital Assets.

Blackberry Tips and Tricks Overview

A Blackberry Tips and Tricks Overview session will be offered to the campus community on October 23, 2008. A session from 10-11:30 a.m. will be held in 315 BTSU and a session from 1:30 - 3 p.m. will be held in 314 BTSU. Any interested faculty or staff member is invited to attend - registration is not required. 

 

This session will cover an overview of screens and keys, icons-what are they and how to remove/hide, changing the look of the home screen and fonts, editing contacts and address book tips, calendar shortcuts, quick keys and shortcuts for email, also, bring your "how do I?" questions to ask at this session.

Test the new BGSU wiki system

You are invited to test the new BGSU wiki system. This system is currently in beta version and provides an excellent opportunity for new users to learn about wikis as well as a chance for those experienced in using wikis to test the site. To use, visit wiki.bgsu.edu and login using your BGSU username and password. Be sure the drop down menu for domain is set to bgsu.edu. Digital Copyright Safeguards is a layered, proactive approach to peer-to-peer (P2P) and digital copyright issues at BGSU. On October 10, a new technology will be implemented that will allow legal use of P2P at BGSU while detecting attempts to obtain copyrighted content in violation of the DMCA. CSS Advisory Sessions

Introducing Campus Solutions (CSS) will be presented on Thursday, October 16 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in 1007 Business Administration. System Outages Scheduled

In order to complete system maintenance and upgrades, the following outages have been scheduled: 

  • The Rhythmyx Web Content Management System (CMS) is scheduled for upgrade to a newer release. CMS version 6.5.2 will be available for use on Mon. Oct. 13. In order to complete this upgrade, the CMS system will be unavailable from 12 a.m. on Oct 11 until 12 a.m. on Oct 13. During this upgrade, the CMS system will not be available for use in creating, editing, and publishing web pages; however, BGSU web pages will remain accessible for viewing and reference.
  • FMS will be unavailable from Fri. Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. through Mon. Oct. 13 at 6 a.m. in order to complete and upgrade to a newer release of PeopleTools.
  • From 6 p.m. Thurs. Oct 9 through 2 a.m. Fri. Oct. 10, network hardware upgrades will be completed in Shatzel Hall, West Hall, Life Science, and the Education Building. During this time period these buildings will have no network communication to other systems either on or off campus.
  • On Thurs. Oct 9 from 5-6 a.m. the following systems will be unavailable: blogs.bgsu.edu, wiki.bgsu.edu, journals.bgsu.edu, and memories.bgsu.edu

The BG@100 October Go-Live activities have been completed and Graduate Admissions and Schedule of Classes are now "live" in Campus Solutions (CSS). For Graduate Admissions, CSS is now the system of record. Applications for Summer 2009 and beyond will be processed in CSS. BG@100 Open Forum

A BG@100 Open Forum will be held on Thursday, October 2 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. This open forum will include a presentation on the CSS Schedule of Classes.  The Schedule of Classes module in Campus Solutions (CSS) will be used for scheduling classes for the Summer 2009 term and subsequent terms.

 

This presentation will demonstrate general information about using the CSS functions of Schedule of Classes, Class Search, and Updating Class Sections. This will be an informative presentation and demonstration of the module rather than a training session.

 

All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum. It is an opportunity to learn about the project as well as an opportunity to ask questions of BG@100 team members about the Schedule of Classes and the Graduate Admission "Go-Live" scheduled for October 6.

BG@100 September Go-Live Complete

Campus Community and Undergraduate Admissions are now "live" in Campus Solutions (CSS). Thank you to all the offices who participated in data verification on Sunday - your efforts are greatly appreciated.

 

Over the weekend, approximately 400,000 records were successfully migrated to CSS and CSS is now the 'system of record' for biographic and demographic data for the individuals and organizations that comprise BGSU's community. Undergraduate Admissions will begin processing applications for Summer 2009 and beyond in CSS. As a part of data verification, Undergraduate Admissions began processing applications this past weekend. Applicant data for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 will continue to be available in SIS. Employees also now have access to a new Employee Self Service application via MyBGSU. Updates to phone number and address information for employees may be updated using this self service by selecting the Update Personal Information link under MyServices in MyBGSU.

September Go-Live

A BG@100 CSS Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event is scheduled for the weekend of September 18-22. The BG@100 project will be implementing Campus Community and Undergraduate Admissions in PeopleSoft CSS. With this implementation several new applications and features will be available. A web page has been developed to outline these features as well as to list the changes in system availability that will be required during the go-live period. BG@100 Open Forum

A BG@100 Open Forum will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. This open forum will include a presentation on Understanding Campus Community and Understanding Admissions.

 

The Understanding Campus Community presentation will demonstrate how Campus Community is the single database source that stores all prospective student, student, alumni, staff, and faculty information in Campus Solutions. Also included will be an introduction to 3C's, Service Indicators and Update My Personal Information Self-Service that will 'go-live' for faculty and staff on September 22. The Understanding Admissions presentation will examine the Admissions module in terms of what process an application follows prior to admission to BGSU. The Admissions module will also be a part of the September 22 'go-live'.

 

All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend the open forum. It is an opportunity to learn about the project as well as an opportunity to ask questions of BG@100 project team members. Further project details are available on the web at www.bgsu.edu/bgat100.

BGSU Cellular Services Policy

The BGSU Cellular Services Policy and related documentation is now available. This policy applies to employees who currently use a University-owned cell phone to complete job duties. These employees will need to work with the management for their area to review the policy and determine the appropriate cellular services options for their needs.

A new system for blogging is now available for use at BGSU. MyBGSU Hours Extended

MyBGSU will be extending hours the weekend prior to the fall 2008 semester to provide additional access. Hours will be:

  • Sat. Aug 23 - 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sun. Aug 24 - 7:30 a.m. - 11:59 p.m.
  • Mon. Aug 25 - midnight to 9 p.m.

MyBGSU may be unavailable for up to a 60-minute period beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sun. Aug 24 and at 6 a.m. on Mon. Aug. 25 in order to complete system functions. Applications for "Parking", "Change of Home Address", "My Financial Aid Status", and "Hire a Student Employee" will not be available beyond their normal schedule.

Blackboard Upgrade and Outage

In order to facilitate an upgrade to Blackboard version 8, Blackboard (eLearning.bgsu.edu) will be unavailable on Monday, August 18 from 12:01 a.m. through 6 a.m. During the time of this outage, Blackboard software will be upgraded.

BG@100 Open Forum

A BG@100 Open Forum will be held on Thursday, August 7 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. This open forum will include a presentation on Course Catalog as well as an opportunity to ask questions of BG@100 project team members. This course catalog demonstration will show basic navigation of the course catalog as well as how to search for and view a course in Campus Solutions (CSS). CSS course component terminology and a review of information from Introducing Campus Solutions, Academic Structure, and Campus Solutions: Learning the Basics presentations will also be included. Intermittent CSS Outage possible

The BG@100 project team will be implementing the CSS Course Catalog during the weekend of August 1 - 3. In the process of completing the necessary conversion activities this weekend it is possible that there will be intermittent CSS outages beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 1. These intermittent outages may impact the ability to access CSS self-service applications such as "View My Paycheck", "My Compensation History", and "Manager Information". Any user who may experience difficulty in accessing these self-service applications during this weekend are asked to try to access the application again at a later time. Any user who continues to have difficulty in accessing the applications on Monday, August 4 or after are asked to contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 2-0999, tsc@bgsu.edu.

BG@100 CSS Course Catalog Go-Live

A Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event is scheduled for the weekend of August 1 - 3. Following this go-live the University's Course Catalog will be implemented in PeopleSoft CSS. As of Monday, August 4 course catalog data will be maintained by Registration and Records in SIS and CSS. Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 enrollments will continue to be processed in SIS. The CSS course catalog will begin to be used for enrollments beginning with Summer 2009 and continuing. BG@100 Open Forum - CSS Learning the Basics

The next BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, July 10 at 1:30 p.m. will feature a presentation entitled "Campus Solutions (CSS)-Learning the Basics".

 

All interested faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum to be introduced to:

     1) how to identify CSS components, pages, and types of data fields;

     2) how to sign in, navigate the main menu, and how to appropriately sign out;

     3) types of basic and advance searches;

     4) how to set user defaults and add to favorites; and

     5) how to search match, search criteria, and search results.

This presentation will provide essential information for all who plan to use and navigate the Campus Solutions (CSS) system. The CSS system will be the student administration system of record that will begin a phased implementation beginning in August. Anyone who will be using the CSS system is encouraged to attend.

PGP Outage

PGP will be unavailable between 12:01 and 5 a.m. on Friday, June 27 in order to complete system maintenance.  During this time users will not be able to search the keyserver for new keys to encrypt files.  Users will be able to use whole disk encryption (WDE) and will be able to encrypt and decrypt files local to their system.  Please direct any questions regarding this outage to the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 2-0999, tsc@bgsu.edu.

BG@100 Open Forum

The June BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, June 5 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union will feature an introduction to the BG@100 Campus Solutions Academic Structure.

Academic Structure is the foundation of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions modules and their functions. It encompasses the institution's schools and colleges, academic programs and departments, and subject areas. The Academic Structure serves as the basis for the course catalog and schedule, grading scheme, and all related tables that must be created prior to implementation. In the presentation BG@100 project team members will explain the primary components of BGSU's Academic Structure, explain the relationship of these components, and compare these components to the current Student Information System (SIS) components.

All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions implementation.

Migration from Meeting Maker to Exchange for calendaring

As a part of the project to migrate BGSU to the Exchange system, the current calendaring software, Meeting Maker will be migrating to Exchange. This migration will occur between May 15 and May 19, 2008. Once completed, Exchange calendaring will be the supported calendaring solution for BGSU.   • On Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. thru Thursday, March 6 at 2 a.m. South Hall, Moseley, Math Science, Fine Arts, and Memorial Hall will experience a network outage in order to complete network hardware upgrades. Tech Trends

The next presentation in the Tech Trends series is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26 at 2:30 p.m. in 206 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. In this presentation entitled Vista and Office 2007: Your Gateway to Productivity, DeVaris Brown, Academic Relations Manager for the Heartland Region of Microsoft Corporation will provide an overview of Vista and Office 2007. He will be demonstrating the capabilities of Vista and Office 2007 and the extended functionality and increased productivity provided to users by this software partnership. Further details about this presentation and DeVaris Brown are available at the Tech Trends web page. Vista implementation at BGSU is anticipated to be on a fall 2009 timeline.

The production FMS Oracle/PeopleSoft application will be unavailable from 12:01 a.m. - 6 a.m. Sunday, February 10 in order to perform system maintenance. Brief Blackboard Outage Scheduled

CSS Outage Scheduled

The production CSS Oracle/PeopleSoft application will be unavailable from 12:01 a.m. - 6 a.m. Sunday, February 3 in order to perform system maintenance. The FMS system outage originally scheduled for February 3 has been rescheduled for February 10. Access to CSS self-service applications such as "View My Paycheck", "My Compensation History", and "Manager Information" as well as CSS applications used in the "back office" will be unavailable during the time of this outage. ITS Database Server Outage

The outage of an ITS database server will occur from 12:01 - 4 a.m. Sunday January 27 in order to complete upgrades. As a result, multiple applications that are dependent on database information will be unavailable. Including, but not limited to, Production ERP (CSS and FMS), DARS, e-Time for Students, Rhythmyx CMS, BG1 Card, Xythos, Pinnacle, Onbase, Remedy, Math Placement Test, English Placement Test, Schedule of Classes, Course Catalog Information, and Change Password. Calendar Outages Scheduled

The Bowen-Thompson Student Union Virtual Calendar available at ems.bgsu.edu and the BGSU Master calendar available at calendar.bgsu.edu will be unavailable on Thursday, Jan 24 from 5 - 7 a.m. in order to complete system maintenance. Outages Scheduled

The following outages have been scheduled in order to complete system maintenance.

  • Thursday, January 17 from 5 - 5:30 a.m. MyBGSU will be unavailable. During this outage time access to the MyBGSU portal and MyServices will be unavailable.
  • Saturday, January 19 from 12:01 - 5 a.m. Algor, IDRISI Kilimanjaro, SPSS and SNAP survey software will be unavailable. While the SNAP software is unavailable during this time, the survey.bgsu.edu website will remain accessible.

ITS Database Outage to affect several applicaiton

The outage of an ITS database server will occur from 12:01 - 1 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13 in order to complete upgrades. As a result, multiple applications that are dependent on database information will be unavailable including, but not limited to, DARS (Darwin), Pinnacle, Rhythmyx CMS, MyFiles, and the following MyBGSU services; Grades, Student Insurance Requirement, Financial Responsibility, Change Password, and Add Server. BG@100 Open Forum

BG@100 open forums are held monthly to provide an update regarding progress on the PeopleSoft implementation. During the open forum, a project update is followed by the opportunity for attendees to ask a project team member questions regarding BG@100. The next open forum is scheduled for Thursday, January 10 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. All interested faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend.

MyBGSU Extended Hours

To provide additional access to online services, MyBGSU will be available for extended hours the weekend prior to the start of spring semester. The extended hours are

  • Sat. Jan 5 - 7:30 am - 7:30 pm
  • Sun Jan 6 - 7:30 am - 11:59 pm
  • Mon Jan 7 - midnight - 9 pm

MyBGSU may be unavailable for up to a 60-minute period beginning at about 5:30 pm. on Sun Jan 6 and for a 30-minute period beginning at 6 am on Sun Jan 7 in order to complete system functions. Applications for "Parking", "Change of Home Address", "My Financial Aid Status" and "Hire a Student Employee" will not be available beyond their normal schedule.

eTime for Students Outage Announced

The eTime for Students system will experience an outage on Saturday, January 5 from 6 a.m. to noon in order to complete system maintenance. The web application will be unavailable for use; however, card readers will remain operational. Network Outage Scheduled

In order to complete network software upgrades, a campus network outage has been scheduled for Thursday, January 3 from 5:30 a.m. - 6 a.m.  This outage will affect all academic and administrative buildings on campus.  During the time of the outage, computer systems in affected buildings will have no communication to other systems, either on or off campus.  Please direct any questions regarding this outage to the Technology Support Center (TSC) at tsc@bgsu.edu, 2-0999.
