BG@100 December Open Forum

The December BG@100 Open Forum on Thursday, December 3 will provide attendees with information regarding the CSS enhancements that will be a part of the upgrade to CSS HCM v9. The presentation at this open forum will address topics such as: Program/Plan/Sub Plan Deactivation that will enhance admissions processing, Service Indicator and Checklist display suppression features, new self-service features, new functionality for Faculty Center and Student Center, mass population selection and update capabilities, and new communication generation features.

 

The open forum will take place on Thursday, December 3 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in 314 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. All interested faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend.

Rhythmyx CMS Production Outage

The Rhythmyx Web Content Management (CMS) system will be unavailable from 12:01 - 1 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2 in order to complete system maintenance. Rhythmyx CMS will not be accessible for use in creating, editing, and publishing web pages; however, BGSU web pages will remain accessible for viewing and reference.

CSS HCM v9 Upgrade Town Hall Event

A Town Hall event for the CSS HCM v9 upgrade project has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 18 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Any interested members of the campus community are invited to attend. 

 

The CSS HCM v9 Upgrade Project will work through the processes involved in upgrading the CSS and HCM portions of Oracle/PeopleSoft from version 8.9 to version 9.0. 

 

This Town Hall event will introduce the upgrade plan and upgrade team members, benefits of the upgrade will be examined, and attendees will also look at the testing and cut over schedule. The Town Hall event will be held in 113 Olscamp and will be teleconferenced to 1011 Cedar Point Center at Firelands.

BG@00 November Open Forum to focus on CSS Security

The November BG@100 Open Forum on Thursday, November 5 will focus on the topic of Security related to Campus Solutions (CSS). The presentation at this open forum will address topics such as: What is PeopleSoft security? What are the steps for obtaining CSS access? What training do I need to complete prior to receiving access? Where can I find information regarding CSS security access? How do I know what access to request? How do I complete and submit a CSS security access request form? What is row level security? What are the different roles in CSS? What happens to my CSS access request form between the time I submit it and when I receive access? 

 

The open forum will take place on Thursday, November 5 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in 314 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions (CSS) implementation. Atomic Learning Video Tutorials Available

Do you have a question about how to use a specific feature of a software program such as Excel, Word, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Acrobat or Photoshop? Or, is there a software package that you would like to learn how to use but don’t know where to start? The Atomic Learning Video Tutorials may be your answer – they are readily accessible and easy to use. 

 

These web-based tutorials cover hundreds of popular software titles and are a good way to gain skills in using new software as well as becoming proficient in using software you may already use on a regular basis.

Outage for CSS Training Classes

In order to complete a software upgrade, some CSS training applications using the UPK software will be unavailable on Tuesday, October 27 from 12:01 – 6 a.m. 

 

The classes that will be unavailable during this time period include: SF 310 Student Posting Maintenance, SR 310 Courses & Classes, SR 320 Enrollment, SR 325 Add Advisor to a Student Record, SR 335 Service Indicators Maintenance, and SR 231 Advisor Self Service View Access and the Query Viewer class which is an online prerequisite for Query access.

Demonstration of Final Grade Submission Process

Final grades for Fall 2009 will be submitted by faculty via the new Campus Solutions (CSS) system. The previous system of "bubble sheet" entry of grades will no longer be used. Grades for summer 2009 were submitted using the CSS system but for faculty who did not teach during the summer sessions, Fall semester will be the first opportunity for submission of final semester grades via CSS. 

 

A demonstration of the final grade submission process will be offered on the following dates and times. The demonstration will "walk" attendees through both the process of entering grades via Faculty Center as well as the process for entering via Blackboard. 

 

  • Thurs. Oct 22 @ 1-2:30 p.m. in 113 Olscamp/1011 CPC 
  • Tues. Nov. 17 @ 10-11:30 a.m. in 113 Olscamp/1011 CPC

Making CSS Work for You sessions will be offered on the following dates/times:

Making CSS Work for You sessions will provide attendees with the questions and answers that have been submitted to the BG@100 Project Team. Those using CSS were asked to provide questions they would like to have answered - whether the questions were about how to best navigate the system, how to most easily obtain needed data, or how to complete a specific task in CSS. The BG@100 training team has gathered these questions, provided appropriate responses and will provide the information to session attendees.

Protecting Your Good Name presentation

It's your name - and it's yours to protect. "Protecting Your Good Name-Social Networking Awareness and Identity Theft Precautions" will be the topic of a presentation provided by two FBI agents on Wed. Oct 21 @ 2-3:30 p.m. in 206 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. 

 

The agents will address how information shared on social networking sites can be harmful and how to effectively use these sites to communicate while still protecting your identity. Considerations and "red flags" to look for by those who work in areas that handle sensitive data will also be examined. Also discussed will be the methods commonly used by criminals to obtain personal information, tips on how to keep private information from falling into the wrong hands and steps to take if you become a victim of identity fraud.

The following outages are being announced in order to complete system maintenance:

  • MyBGSU will be unavailable on Friday, October 9 from 4:30 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • SNAP survey file shares will be unavailable on Saturday, October 10 from 12:05 a.m. – 1 a.m. Any user having difficulty in launching the SNAP application after the outage period are advised to reboot their computers and then restart SNAP.
  • the CSS Oracle/PeopleSoft application will be unavailable on Sunday, October 11 from 12:01 – 6 a.m. During this outage period, access to CSS self-service applications such as Student Center, Faculty Center, View My Paycheck, My Compensation History, and Manager Information as well as CSS applications used in the “back offices” will be unavailable.
  • intermittent network outages will occur on Sunday October 11th between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.. These brief outages will affect all academic and administrative buildings on campus. During this time computer systems in the affected buildings will have no communication to other systems, either on or off campus.
  • ListServ available at lists.bgsu.edu will be unavailable from 5 a.m. – 6 a.m. on Monday, October 12
  •  the BGSU Master calendar available at calendar.bgsu.edu will be unavailable from 6 a.m. – 8 a.m. on Monday, October 12

Query Manager and Query Runner Training Classes

The BG@100 Training Team is pleased to announce the availability of additional Query Manager and Query Runner training classes.

Query is a PeopleSoft end-user reporting tool that will allows users to write reports in order to extract information from CSS and FMS. Query allows users to create and run reports against the FMS or CSS database with these queries being as simple or as complex as needed. Queries can be created for a one-time use or they may be created and saved for future repeated use. Query will be the PeopleSoft version of Focus reports in SIS. The training sessions currently scheduled focus on examples using CSS. Information regarding Query training is available on the web at:

The presentation will address topics such as: who needs a transcript, how official and unofficial transcripts are used, how to read a transcript, how students view and print unofficial transcripts, how advisors view unofficial transcripts, and how students request official transcripts.

The Technology Support Center (TSC) in 110 Hayes Hall is pleased to announce the addition of open hours from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. These weekend hours are in addition to the weekday hours of 7:30 a.m. – midnight Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday. 

 

TSC provides a central point of contact for faculty, staff, and students for questions, problem reports, service requests and inquiries for University computer systems and communications technologies at BGSU. PGP Outage Announced

PGP will be unavailable between 5 and 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 10 in order to complete system maintenance. During this time users will not be able to search the keyserver for new keys to encrypt files. Users will be able to use whole disk encryption (WDE) and will be able to encrypt and decrypt files local to their system.

Hardware and Software Upgrades for ITS Labs

In preparation for the Fall 2009 semester, ITS will be completing hardware and software upgrades through the summer months. 

 

The following software applications are anticipated to be available in most ITS maintained computer labs prior to the start of fall semester classes: Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe Creative Suite 4, iLife 2009 (Mac only), and SPSS 17 (PC Open Labs). 

 

The following labs are scheduled to receive upgraded hardware prior to the start of fall semester classes: Education 213, Education 222, Hayes 025, Library 125, Life Science 131, Math Science 240, Olscamp 207, Psychology 103, Technology 237, UHall 209, UHall 303, West 201, and West 209. 

 

The following Mac labs will require domain authentication (using BGSU username and passwords) Hayes 107, Library 125, Math Science 240, and Technology 247. 

 

A listing of software being added as a part of the 2008-09 ASAC (Academic Software Advisory Committee) acquisitions is available here.

Introducing Carbon Copy Software

During the week of May 11th, ITS will be implementing Altiris Carbon Copy software across campus. Carbon Copy is a software application that can be used by the TSC to aid in diagnosing and solving technical problems on desktop system. ITS is announcing that the current license agreement for SPSS no longer allows for the use of SPSS version 15. If you are a user who has version 15 installed on your system and are still using version 15, please contact the Technology Support Center (TSC) to request to be upgraded to the current version of SPSS which is version 17. BG@100 August Open Forum

The BG@100 Project Team is pleased offer the fourth in The Student Life Cycle series during the August BG@100 Open Forum. The Student Life Cycle series focuses on a student progressing through the BG@100 PeopleSoft CSS system. The presentations will provide participants insight into the process from the perspective of the student as well as the perspective of a BGSU staff/faculty member. 

 

This fourth presentation in the series is entitled Beyond Enrollment and Heading for Graduation. The presentation will include the topics of Class Wait Listing, Viewing Transfer Credits, Viewing Grades, Viewing an Unofficial Transcript Internally, Changing Diploma Names, and How to Apply for Graduation

BG@100 July Go-Live

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event will take place the weekend of July 18.

The July go-live activities surround Federal Work Study (FWS) and 3rd Party Awards for the Student Financial Aid module. In addition, Student Records activities will concentrate on Alumni and Clearinghouse Interfaces, Grade Average Report and Grade Distribution Reports, HEI (Higher Education Information) files, Dean's List and Graduation News Service Queries. CSS users are strongly encouraged to not use, make changes, or complete business processing in CSS from 6 p.m. on Friday, July 17 until 6 a.m. on Monday, July 20. Processing in FMS will continue to be available - the go-live activities will not impact FMS transactions. No outage period is being announced for CSS, however the BG@100 Project Team does reserve the right to make the CSS system unavailable if necessary during the go-live period. BG@100 July Town Hall

A BG@100 July Town Hall event will take place on Thursday, July 16 at 11 a.m. in 113 Olscamp Hall and all students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend. This teleconferenced event will also include those at Firelands in 1011 Cedar Point Center. 

 

This Town Hall is provided in preparation for the BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live that will take place during the weekend of July 18. This Go-Live is the eleventh go-live of the eleven that were scheduled during August 2008 - July 2009 as a part of the BG@100 PeopleSoft CSS implementation. The July Town Hall event will enumerate the go-live events and processes as well as communicating the change management items that will take place as a result of this go-live. Information about the go-live and change management items may also be referenced on the July Go-Live web page. BG@100 project team members will be available to share information as well as answer questions about the go-live.

Grade Submission Using CSS

Summer 2009 will be the first term during which faculty will be submitting grades using the Campus Solutions (CSS) system. The previous system of "bubble sheet" entry of grades will no longer be used.

5th Annual Office of the CIO Golf Outing

The Office of the CIO would like to extend an invitation to participate in the 5th annual BGSU Office of the CIO Golf Outing. 

 

This event is scheduled for Friday, July 24 at the Stone Ridge Golf Club. Registration includes lunch, 18 holes of golf, complimentary range balls prior to the round, two drink tickets and appetizers following the competition. A 50/50 drawing and prizes will be awarded following completion of play. Teams of four will compete in a best ball scramble format.

BG@100 July Open Forum - A Look at Student Billing

The July BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, July 2 is titled "A Look at Student Billing". 

 

This open forum will cover the topics of Billing Statements (when eBill statements are produced and when they are due); Statement Summary (prior charges, current charges, current credits, and anticipated financial aid); Loan Origination (FAFSA, loans, dependent fee waivers); and tuition calculation (what a student owes, interface to CASHNet, view access to student accounts). The open forum will take place on Thursday, July 2 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. in 314 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions (CSS) implementation.

In order to complete a software upgrade, some CSS training applications using the UPK software will be unavailable from Tuesday, June 30 at 7:30 a.m. through Thursday, July 2 at 5:00 p.m. The classes that will be unavailable during this time period include: SF 310 Student Posting Maintenance, SR 310 Courses & Classes, SR 320 Enrollment, SR 325 Add Advisor to a Student Record, SR 335 Service Indicators Maintenance, and SR 231 Advisor Self Service View Access and the Query Viewer class which is an online prerequisite for Query access.

BG@100 June Go-Live

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event will take place the weekend of June 12. The tasks to completed during this weekend will provide for 

  • the go-live of grades submission through Faculty Center, 
  • the ability for students to request official and unofficial transcripts via Student Center, 
  • the enablement of the electronic Installment Payment Plan (eIPP) and 
  • go-live of Dynamic Billing with CASHNet, 
  • the installation of Bundle 19, and 
  • the inclusion of on-campus addresses from the RMS system in the RESH address field in CSS. 

Following this go-live, CSS users will also have the ability to view information using the Student Services Center - a one-stop shopping option providing a comprehensive look at data. 

 

A web page has been created to outline the items that will be a part of this go-live and also to list the items that will change as a result of this go-live. This web page also provides information regarding system access through the go-live weekend.

Wireless Network Outage

The following outages are being announced:

  • The DARS degree audit system will be unavailable for brief periods between 11:00 and 11:30 PM on Tuesday June 9, 2009 for system maintenance. During the maintenance window users may experience delays in audit processing and will be unable to access previously stored audit results.
  • In order to complete a hardware upgrade, multiple applications that are dependent on this hardware may experience intermittent interruptions in availability during the period of 12:01 - 2 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10. These applications include but are not limited to: the MyBGSU portal, Blackboard, and the BGSU email system.
  • On Wednesday, June 10 from 2 - 6 a.m. BGSU's Internet Service Provider will be performing network maintenance. During this time the BGSU campus may experience an Internet connectivity outage. PGP Outage

PGP will be unavailable between 12:05 and 1:05 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3 in order to complete system maintenance. During this time users will not be able to search the keyserver for new keys to encrypt files. Users will be able to use whole disk encryption (WDE) and will be able to encrypt and decrypt files local to their system. May BG@100 Go-Live Activities

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event will take place the weekend of May 15. This go-live will include the conversion of grades, Financial Aid SAP conversion, and Student Records HEI Reporting. 

 

A web page has been created to outline the items that will be a part of this go-live and also to list the items that will change as a result of this go-live. This information is available for your reference at http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/cio/page66295.html 

 

CSS users are strongly encouraged to not use, make changes, or complete business processing in CSS from 6 p.m. on Friday, May 15 until 6 a.m. on Monday, May 18. Also CSS users, such as those who may be registering for classes, using Student Center or Faculty Center may encounter a brief disruption of service on Friday, May 15 between 9:30 - 10:00 p.m. as servers are "bounced" and cache is cleared. This brief disruption of service should not extend beyond a 10 minute time period. 

 

Processing in FMS will continue to be available - the go-live activities will not impact FMS transactions. 

 

No outage period is being announced for CSS, however the BG@100 Project Team does reserve the right to make the CSS system unavailable if necessary during the go-live period.

BG@100 Open Forum - The Student Life Cycle Part IV

The BG@100 Project Team is pleased offer the fourth in The Student Life Cycle series during the May BG@100 Open Forum. 

 

The Student Life Cycle series focuses on a student progressing through the BG@100 PeopleSoft CSS system. The presentations will provide participants insight into the process from the perspective of the student as well as the perspective of a BGSU staff/faculty member.

The presentation will include the topics of Class Wait Listing, Viewing Transfer Credits, Viewing Grades, Viewing an Unofficial Transcript Internally, Changing Diploma Names, and How to Apply for Graduation

Introducing Carbon Copy software

During the week of May 11th, ITS will be implementing Altiris Carbon Copy software across campus. Carbon Copy is a software application that can be used by the TSC to aid in diagnosing and solving technical problems on desktop system. Hardware and Software Upgrades for ITS Labs

In preparation for the Fall 2009 semester, ITS will be completing hardware and software upgrades through the summer months. The following software applications are anticipated to be available in most ITS maintained computer labs prior to the start of fall semester classes: Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe Creative Suite 4, and iLife 2009 (Mac only). The following labs are scheduled to receive upgraded hardware prior to the start of fall semester classes: Education 213, Education 222, Hayes 025, Library 125, Life Science 131, Math Science 240, Olscamp 207, Psychology 103, Technology 237, and Technology 247. The BGSU Cellular Services Policy has recently been updated and is available for review. This policy pertains to BGSU employees whose job duties may include the need for cellular services. All employees are asked to review the policy and to be responsible for the policy as it pertains to their job duties.

Change in CICS region availability on Thursday, April 2

On Thursday, April 2 all CICS regions will go offline beginning at 6 p.m. rather than the normally scheduled 9 p.m. time. During this time the MyBGSU MyServices menu items noted with an * will be unavailable. This adjustment is required in order to complete additional batch processing in preparation for the next BG@100 CSS Go-Live scheduled for the weekend of April 3-5. Normal CICS access will resume Friday morning April 3rd at 7:30am. Any questions regarding this change may be directed to the Technology Support Center (TSC) at 2-0999, tsc@bgsu.edu.

Data Destruction & Recycling Service Now Available

A Data Destruction & Recycling Service is now available to BGSU faculty, students and staff. This service offers users the assurance that sensitive information is "wiped" or "sanitized" from devices such as computers, hard drives, floppy and disk drives, flash drives, USB drives, CDs and DVDs, tapes and media cards. In addition, recycling of personal items such as computers, monitors and mice, keyboards, printers, laptops, and external devices is available.

Announced possible CSS outage

The production CSS Oracle/PeopleSoft application may be unavailable on Sunday, March 22 from 12:01 - 1 a.m. CSS system maintenance will occur during this time period and it is possible that the system may be unavailable during this time period. If an outage does occur access to CSS self-service applications such as Student Center, Faculty Center, View My Paycheck, My Compensation History, and Manager Information as well as CSS applications used in the "back offices" will be unavailable.

The Rhythmyx Web Content Management (CMS) system will be unavailable from 12:01 - 1 a.m. on Monday, March 16 in order to complete system maintenance. March Go-Live Activities Complete

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event was completed on March 6-8. This implementation included providing additional Financial Aid functionality, enhancing the Course and Class search functions, providing additional self-service features including application for graduation and DARwin as well as providing integration for O-Reg processes. 

 

The March Go-Live web page itemizes the items that were implemented during this phase of the project. The CSS Sneak Peeks are available for your reference in viewing some of the new functionality. The most recently added items include a Sneak Peek for the Apply for Graduation application, Student Degree Audit for Students, Student Degree Audit for Advisors as well as Sneak Peeks for the Student Center Self Service Holds, Enrollment Dates, and MyAdvisor features.

March BG@100 Go-Live Activities

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event will begin on March 6 and continue through March 8. This go-live will provide additional Financial Aid functionality, enhance the Course and Class search functions, provide additional self-service features including application for graduation and DARwin and will provide integration for O-REG processes. 

 

A web page has been created to outline the items that will be a part of this go-live and also to list the items that will change as a result of this go-live. This information is available for your reference. Several "Sneak Peek" items have been developed in order to provide the opportunity to see new functionality. The most recently added items include a Sneak Peek for the Apply for Graduation application as well as Sneak Peeks for the Student Center Self Service Holds, Enrollment Dates, and MyAdvisor features. The CSS Sneak Peeks are available for your reference. 

 

As a result of go-live activities, the DARwin degree audit web application will be unavailable on Saturday, March 7 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. During this time users will be unable to request new audits or view previously completed audit requests. Also, the Student Center and Search Course features may experience brief periods of disruption between 2 and 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 7 as implementation processing is taking place. Processing in FMS will continue to be available - the go-live activities will not impact FMS transactions. No outage period is being announced for CSS, however the BG@100 Project Team does reserve the right to make the CSS system unavailable if necessary during the go-live period.

BG@100 March Town Hall Event

A BG@100 March Town Hall event will take place on Thursday, March 5 and all students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend. 

 

During the weekend of March 6-8 the BG@100 project team will be completing the seventh of eleven scheduled go-lives for the Campus Solutions (CSS) system. The March go-live will provide additional Financial Aid functionality, enhance the Course and Class search functions, provide additional self-service features including application for graduation and DARwin and will provide integration for O-REG processes. The March Town Hall event will enumerate the go-live events and processes. Those attending will also be provided with a live demonstration of all the new enhancements and features of the production course catalog, schedule of classes, and enrollments.

BG@100 Open Forum - The Student Life Cycle-Campus Community

The BG@100 Project Team is pleased offer the second in The Student Life Cycle series during the March BG@100 Open Forum. The Student Life Cycle series focuses on a student progressing through the BG@100 PeopleSoft CSS system. The presentations will provide participants insight into the process from the perspective of the student as well as the perspective of a BGSU staff/faculty member. 

 

This second presentation in the series focuses on Campus Community. Items to be discussed during the presentation include: what kind of information is being captured for students and where can it be viewed? what are the 3C's, what are checklists and what are 'to do' lists and where can these items be seen? is it possible to create and store a comment on a student's record? what happened to holds? what are positive and negative service indicators? 

 

The March Open Forum will take place on Thursday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions (CSS) implementation. Darwin Degree Audit Outage Announced

Falcon Film Festival scheduled for Saturday, February 28

The 2009 Falcon Film Festival will be held Saturday, February 28, at 7 p.m. and all students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend this free event. 

 

Teams of BGSU students have produced short videos creatively capturing the college experience. The top eight videos will be shown as a part of the evening's program. 

 

The evening's festivities will be hosted by David Coleman, BGSU alumnus who has earned the nickname "The Dating Doctor" as an author, speaker, and media personality. Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place entries as well as to the Best Actor and Best Actress. Audience members will also be eligible to win raffle prizes. 

 

The event will be held in 101 Olscamp Hall with seating for 500 available. Doors open a 6 p.m. This event is sponsored by the offices of the Chief Information Officer and Residence Life.

February Go-Live Activities Complete

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event was completed on Feb 4 - 8. This implementation included converting all historical enrollment to CSS, the implementation of RMS for housing and meal sign up, and the introduction of Student Center and Faculty Center. 

 

Users will now see the availability of Student Center and Faculty Center within MyBGSU. Help documentation is available by selecting the ? icon next to the Student Center and Faculty Center links. It is also possible to view the new menu will look by accessing the Student Center Sneak Peek and Faculty Center Sneak Peek.

Beginning at 11 p.m. on Tuesday Feb 10 and continuing until 3 a.m. on Wednesday Feb 11, BGSU's Internet Service Provider will be performing network maintenance. ASAC Application Process Announced

The application process for this year's requests for instructional software via the Academic Software Advisory Committee (ASAC) has been established. Beginning Feb 9 and continuing through March 16 at 5 p.m. faculty, including chairs and directors, may complete software requests online. Change in System Availability during BG@100 Go-Live

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) implementation is scheduled for February 6-8. Due to activities surrounding this go-live, CSS users may notice a slower response time when completing CSS activities on Thursday, February 5. 

 

Users may also experience delays in system response and a longer processing time for reports on Friday, February 6. CSS users are asked to log out of the system on Friday, February 6 by 6 p.m. and to minimize CSS activities throughout the weekend. The system will again be available to all users by Monday, February 9 at 8 a.m. 

 

Processing in FMS will continue to be available - the go-live activities will not impact FMS transactions. The BG@100 Project Team does however reserve the right to make the system unavailable if necessary during the go-live period.

February Go-Live Activities

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event began on Feb 4 and will continue through Feb 8. BG@100 Open Forum

The BG@100 Project Team is pleased to announce a series of presentations entitled The Student Life Cycle to be offered at the upcoming BG@100 Open Forums. The Student Life Cycle series will focus on a student progressing through the BG@100 PeopleSoft CSS system. The February Open Forum entitled The Student Life Cycle – Prospect to Applicant will is scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union. This first presentation in the series will focus on the process in which a person moves from Prospect to Applicant. What happens when a prospective student contacts the University is outlined along with how prospect data in CSS may be viewed. Then, the steps a student takes to become an applicant are provided and also the availability of this data in CSS will be examined. 

 

All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions (CSS) implementation. BG@100 Town Hall Event

Do you have questions about what a BG@100 Go-Live is? The BG@100 Project Team will be working through a Go-Live from February 4-8 and what does that really mean? What does it mean for you and your role within the university? The Town Hall Event scheduled for Thursday, February 5 at 11 a.m. is designed to answer just such questions. 

 

During the February Go-Live, the BG@100 project team will be working to convert from the current system to PeopleSoft over 5 million rows of enrollment data – that includes historical enrollment as far back as 1940. Following this Go-Live a Student Center and Faculty Center will be available within MyBGSU, the RMS (Residential Management System) will be ready for use on the web for on campus housing registration and meal plan selection. The Town Hall event will demonstrate these new features and will outline the impact of all the February go-live activities. 

 

All interested faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this event scheduled for Thursday, February 5 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in 113 Olscamp Hall. The outage of an ITS database server will occur from 12:01 -6 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, in order to complete upgrades. As a result, multiple applications that are dependent on database information will be unavailable, including but not limited to: Production ERP (CSS and FMS), DARS, e-Time for Students, Rhythmyx, CMS, BG1 Card (2 a.m. - 6 a.m.), Xythos, MyFiles, Pinnacle, OnBase, Remedy, Math Placement Test, English Placement Test, Schedule of Classes, Course Catalog information, Change Password, Pyramed, and Digital Assets.

BG@100 Open Forum

The January BG@100 Open Forum scheduled for Thursday, Jan 15 at 1:30 p.m. in 315 Bowen-Thompson Student Union will feature the topic: CSS Term Activation. This presentation will provide an overview for participants on the processes for Term Activation. In CSS, term activation is the process that makes a student eligible to enroll in classes at BGSU and provides for the sharing of information across the CSS modules. Topics to be covered include: what is term activation, understanding term activation terminology, understanding the term activation process, and understanding processes affected by term activation in other CSS modules. 

 

All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this open forum. In addition to this presentation, project team members will be available to answer questions regarding BG@100 and the Campus Solutions implementation.

MyBGSU Hours Extended

MyBGSU will be extending hours the weekend prior to the spring 2009 semester to provide additional access.   Hours will be: 

 

Sat. Jan 10 - 7:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. 

Sun. Jan 11 - 7:30 a.m. - 11:59 p.m. 

Mon. Jan 12 - midnight to 9 p.m. 

 

MyBGSU may be unavailable for up to a 60-minute period beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sun. Jan 11 and at 6 a.m. on Mon. Jan 12 in order to complete system functions. Applications for "Parking", "My Financial Aid Status", and "Hire a Student Employee" will not be available beyond their normal schedule.

MyFiles Upgrade and Outage

MyFiles will experience an outage on Jan. 10 from 12:05 - 3 a.m. in order to complete an upgrade to a newer version of the software. Following this outage and upgrade, MyFiles will have a new user interface and additional features such as the ability to drag and drop file uploads.

BG@100 January Go-Live

A BG@100 Campus Solutions (CSS) Go-Live event is scheduled for the weekend of January 9-11. This implementation includes Student Records Academic Record Conversions, Financial Aid ISIR Load Processing and the RMS (Residential Management System) Go-Live. With this Go-Live, CSS will be the official "system of record" for Academic Record information. More than 201,000 student program/plan records will be converted to CSS as a part of this implementation. 

 

A listing of the Student Records, Financial Aid, and RMS items that will be converted as well as a listing of items that will change as a result of this go-live are outlined here. College offices and departments are encouraged to review the details provided on this web page in order to appropriately evaluate the impact for each area. 

 

As a result of the implementation, CSS users are strongly encouraged to not use, make changes, or complete business processing in CSS during the period from 5 p.m. Fri. Jan 9 through 8 a.m. on Mon. Jan. 12. The BG@100 Project Team does however reserve the right to make the system unavailable at additional times if necessary during the go-live period. Processing in FMS will continue to be available - the go-live activities will not impact FMS transactions.

BG@100 January Town Hall Event

In preparation for the BG@100 CSS Go-Live scheduled for January 12, the campus community is invited to attend a CSS Town Hall event on Thursday, January 8. This town hall session will focus on the features and impact of the January implementation which includes: 

  • Go-Live of RMS (Residential Management System)
  • For Student Records: conversion of student career/program/plan, residency data, service indicators,milestones, student groups, student advisor data, and student degree honors
  • For Financial Aid: go-live of ISIR load for 0910, inclusion of Campus Community checklist, and conversion of term counter renewable scholarships

MyFiles Upgrade

The MyFiles file storage system (myfiles.bgsu.edu) provided to students, faculty, and staff will be upgraded just prior to the start of spring semester classes in January 2009. A listing of what will be changing and an introduction to the updated user interface will be available after the beginning of the year. Information regarding the specific date of the upgrade will also be distributed in early 2009.
