Biography of Jim Smith

Bowling Green State University Research Enterprise Park

Enhancing the economic development actions of the University is accomplished, in part, by utilization of the Research Enterprise Park.

The research park, a 55-acre site east of the Bowling Green State University main campus, was designed to provide opportunities for leased space to be utilized by businesses and research enterprises that could justify carefully coordinated actions with teaching, research and service at BGSU.

The Ohio EPA and the former Sky Bank have utilized lease opportunities, while constructing facilities on University-owned land. The Wood County Educational Service Center and Argo-Hytos have purchased land from the University in order to construct buildings in the research park.

Research Enterprise Park must grow and mature through the active pursuit and sale of property to aligned businesses or research facilities. Principal “targets” for location to the park include research offices, experimental or testing laboratories, research support agencies, manufacturing facilities with strong technical components and transportation facilities that prove valuable to applied research in supply chain managerial techniques.

Synergistic actions that will allow for new and enhanced efforts that lead to partnerships, collaborative research, student internships and research park employee guest seminars must be explored. These actions will allow the park to serve as a genuine partner in eliminating barriers to technology transfer and commercialization of intellectual property, while creating meaningful advancements for the University and allied business partners.

Potential investors interested in research park ownership and the sale of land should contact:
