Dick Hoffman honored
Dr. Jodi Devine (right), associate director of the Honors Program, presents a certificate to Sue Hoffman indicating that 10 backpacks filled with school supplies were donated to abused and neglected children in Wood County in honor of her late husband, Dr. Richard Hoffman. The donation was part of Students Providing Aid and Resources to the Community (SPARC) Week, organized by the Honors Program.
The 10 backpacks were among 65 in all that BGSU students filled for children assisted by the county’s Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Program. Each backpack contained a book given in memory of Hoffman, who was director of BGSU’s Partners in Context and Community (PCC) Residential Learning Community when he died Feb. 5. He had taught at the University since 1979, including General Studies Writing and in the Honors Program.
The Honors Program worked with PCC and the Arts Village to honor Hoffman, whose daughter, Laurel, and two grandchildren also attended the April 15 presentation.
The Honors Program is seeking partners for next year’s SPARC Week as well. For more information, contact Devine at 2-8501 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
