Wristbands raise money, spread Falcon pride
Thousands of BG students, faculty and staff are sporting trendy orange wristbands imprinted with “BGSU Falcons” and spreading Falcon pride, thanks to the ingenuity of two campus partners—the BGSU Bookstore and the Falcon Club.
They have just completed a two-year project that resulted in a win/win situation for Falcon student-athletes. The Falcon Club Advisory Board approached the bookstore with a fund-raising idea to capitalize on the popularity of wristbands by creating an orange wristband to support Falcon athletics. Taking the idea, Yvonne Stoner, merchandising manager for the bookstore, researched the wristbands and purchased them in bulk for sale at the two bookstore locations.
Multiple reorders later, this has resulted in more than $8,000 raised for the Falcon Club Scholarship Endowment, supporting the education of student-athletes. “Working together is key to accomplishing great things,” said Rebecca Coats, Falcon Club.
