BGSU faculty, staff and retirees showed their support of the annual Family Campaign this year with a whopping 58 percent participation rate – the highest rate since the internal fund-raising campaign was started in 1999. With the completion of this year’s effort on June 30, the Family Campaign has raised more than $10 million since its inception.
In addition to surpassing last year’s participation rate by almost 3 percent, this year’s campaign raised $686,000, exceeding the goal of $675,000 by more than 1.5 percent.
“During such challenging economic times, this success is absolutely phenomenal,” said Marcia Sloan Latta, interim vice president for University advancement. “It speaks so well to how generous are employees are and how strongly they feel about the mission of the University.”
Kari Johnson, who has represented the University Libraries for four years on the Family Campaign steering committee, credits the campaign’s success to the strong network of volunteers.
“The committee and the volunteers within the colleges, departments and programs work tirelessly all year to educate the campus community and encourage their colleagues to support the campaign,” Johnson said. “We are so fortunate to have people on this campus who support scholarships, programs and initiatives that benefit our students.”
