BGSU wins season opener

BGSU quarterback Tyler Sheehan, a sophomore from Cincinnati, celebrates with teammates after being on the receiving end of a first-quarter touchdown pass from Corey Partridge in the Falcons’ 32-31 overtime win at Minnesota Sept. 1. Also throwing for two touchdowns and the winning two-point conversion, to Freddie Barnes, Sheehan was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in the season opener and his first collegiate start. Sheehan, who completed 34 of 51 passes for 388 yards against the Gophers, will lead the Falcons against another Big Ten opponent, Michigan State, at noon Saturday (Sept. 8) in East Lansing.
