Signing the memorandum of understanding between BGSU and the University of Hildesheim are Interim President Carol Cartwright and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang-Uwe Friedrich, president of Hildesheim.
Exchange agreement creates partnership with German university
The University signed an agreement Nov. 3 with the president of the University of Hildesheim in Germany that provides for students from BGSU and Hildesheim to study on the respective campuses.
The signing occurred at a breakfast for a group of distinguished German visitors with the Atlantik-Brücke (Atlantic Bridge) Foundation who were in the United States to observe the presidential election. Among them was Prof. Dr. Wolfgang-Uwe Friedrich, president of Hildesheim.
In the Atlantik-Brücke contingent were eight Hildesheim political science students and their professor, Dr. Claudia Derichs, who spent the final three weeks of the presidential campaign meeting with BGSU students and faculty and participating in area grass-roots political activities. Plans are under way for Hildesheim to host BGSU students and a faculty member next summer. Preference will be given to students enrolled in BGSU’s new minor in Peace and Conflict Studies.
