BGAMA ranks in top 5 percent of chapters

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University’s chapter of the American Marketing Association (BGAMA) has been named one of the top 16 chapters of the association and in the top 5 percent of AMA student chapters in the world.

This is the second time in three years the chapter has been in the top five internationally. The chapter is also the current top-rated student organization on campus.

The organization’s mission is to help students professionally develop their leadership and marketing skills by combining academics with real-world experiences.

Bowling Green’s chapter has an active membership of 120 students. During the past academic year, the students launched a BGAMA Sales Competition with the help of the marketing department in the College of Business Administration, and connected students with regional corporate and local business representatives through networking events, internships, professional presentations and more.

The chapter also was extensively involved in community-service activities locally, helping to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Salvation Army Red Kettle Program, the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army Christmas Adopt-a-Family Program. It also worked with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio and BGSU’s Dance Marathon, among others.

Through its corporate sponsorship program, the chapter raised more than $3,500 for BGSU marketing department student scholarships.

BGAMA chapter president Ashley Timmons, a junior from Centerville who is a business administration major specializing in marketing and supply chain management, said the chapter would not have received the prestigious award without the dedication of its membership, executive board and faculty adviser Dr. Earl Boatwright, an instructor of marketing.
