BGSU students receive J. Robert Bashore Scholarships

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Four students in the Bowling Green State University Honors Program have been awarded the J. Robert Bashore Scholarship for the 2010-11 academic year.

Students are awarded the scholarship based on specific criteria: demonstrating a high interest in community service, having a diversity of coursework, membership in the honors program and involvement in extracurricular activities.

The scholarships were started in 1983 and are given in honor of Bashore, a former University professor and director of the honors program. They are sponsored by the BGSU Honors Program, the Honors Student Association and Bashore.

SANDUSKY
Sandusky: David Cullen, a senior majoring in business marketing and entrepreneurship, was awarded the J. Robert Bashore Scholarship in the amount of $400. Cullen is a 2007 graduate of Perkins High School and the son of David and Fran Cullen, 2106 Jeanette Court. He is a member of the University Honors Program and is involved in the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization and Net Impact BGSU. He also participated in the Semester at Sea program.

Paul Hemminger, a senior majoring in business marketing, was awarded the J. Robert Bashore Scholarship in the amount of $3,200. Hemminger is a 2007 graduate of Perkins High School and the son of Neil and Christine Hemminger, 4714 Hayes Ave. A recipient of a 2010 Stuart R. Givens Fellowship, he is a BGSU Honors Program student, was involved in the BizX Entrepreneurial Cohort and is a member of Net Impact BGSU.

WOOD
Bowling Green:
Chelsea Brown, a junior majoring in sociology, was awarded the J. Robert Bashore Scholarship in the amount of $3,200. Brown is a 2008 graduate of Bowling Green High School and the daughter of Matthew and Angela Brown, 1441 Muirfield Drive. She is a participant in the BGSU Mock Trial team and a member of the University Honors Program and Alpha Phi Omega.

Facundo Bouzat, a junior majoring in political science, was awarded the J. Robert Bashore Scholarship in the amount of $3,200. Bouzat is a 2008 graduate of Bowling Green High School. He is a member of the University Honors Program and a participant in BGSU Mock Trial and Model U.N. He is also a volunteer at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality.
