Faculty union approved
in vote

BGSU faculty members have voted to form a union. The preliminary results from the State Employment Relations Board (SERB) count yesterday of the 684 ballots cast showed 391 in favor and 293 against unionization.

About 800 full-time faculty were eligible to vote.

SERB is expected to certify the results at its Nov. 18 meeting, and then the process of implementing the union will begin.

Human Resources to move offices

The Office of Human Resources will be moving to the Research Park across I-75 beginning Nov. 8, Rebecca Ferguson, chief human resources officer, has announced. The move is expected to take three days. The office will have limited operations during that time.

Some staff will be stationed in Room 1 College Park during the move, Ferguson said. Though they will have limited e-mail and phone access, they will be reachable, she said.

The new office at 1851 N. Research Drive will open Nov. 12 following the Veterans Day holiday on the 11th.

The move was necessitated by the upcoming demolition of the Commons this fall, which meant that a new home for the Campus Police had to be found. The police will occupy the former Human Resources offices. The date of their move has not yet been announced.
