Parking Services changes and reminders

Some rules and regulations for parking on campus have changed, including handicap parking, enforcement hours and parking citations.

Parking Citations

  • Citations will now be associated with the vehicle's license plate.  Vehicles not registered with Parking Services will have notices of unpaid citations sent directly to the address of the vehicle's registered owner as listed with the Department of Motor Vehicles. If violations continue to remain unpaid, collections will then be turned over to the Attorney General's office.

Handicap Parking and Tag Registration

  • In order to use a handicap license plate, hang tag, or placard with a faculty/staff permit, commuter permit, or on-campus permit, it must be registered with Parking Services. Initially, a reminder will be left on the vehicle if the tag has not been registered.
  • Anyone displaying a state-issued handicap license plate, hang tag, or placard along with a valid BGSU parking permit may park in any designated handicap space on campus.  All vehicles parking at a meter or within a pre-pay lot must remit payment for the time they are expecting to park.

Enforcement Times

  • Parking restrictions will be enforced from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday unless otherwise posted. Enforcement of fire lanes, unmarked spaces, handicap spaces, reserved spaces, and loading/unloading zones will be 24 hours a day, seven days a week (including holidays and breaks).
  • Parking restrictions will be enforced during breaks when University offices remain, such as fall and spring break.
  • Parking restrictions will NOT be enforced on University holidays, except for fire lanes, unmarked spaces, handicap spaces, reserved spaces, and loading/unloading zones.
  • The Bowen-Thompson Student Union lot will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m. seven days a week. Cars parked in this lot during the restricted hours are subject to ticketing and/or towing.

If you have questions about the new regulations, visit Parking Services' updated website or call 2-2776.
