successNET - Frequently Asked Questions
- What email notification goes out to students when a flag has been raised?
Students will receive a personalized version of this email (link to the PDF) any time an instructor or other staff member raise a flag in successNET.
- What are kudos?
Kudos are a way for faculty or advisors to send congratulations and encouragement to their students. Kudos are raised in successNET just like flags or referrals.
- How do I log in to successNET?
Log on to successNET via MyBGSU. Once in MyBGSU, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the successNET icon.
- How do I set up an appointment with a professor or advisor through successNET?
For further information on how to make an online appointment, click on “Student Tutorials” from our website http://www.bgsu.edu/successnet. Our website also contains thorough instructions for advisors and instructors to set up their profiles for online appointments.
- What is the best way to get a flag resolved?
The best way to resolve a flag is to have an immediate and thorough discussion with the flag raiser. If this person is your instructor, office hours are a great forum for this discussion. If your advisor raised a flag on your behalf, call them immediately to make an appointment to discuss his or her concerns, or make an appointment with him or her online via successNET, if they have opted into this functionality, by clicking on the Success Network tab from your profile page.
- Why does successNET exist?
SuccessNET exists for two main purposes: first, to allow instructors to provide immediate and ongoing feedback to their students about their academic performance, when students can benefit most from receiving and acting on this feedback. Second, successNET provides a way for instructors, advisors, and academic and student services support personnel to create an online web of support to facilitate student success.
- What is a progress survey?
One time per semester, successNET asks each instructor to complete a progress survey. This is a mechanism by which an instructor may provide point in time feedback on students’ academic progress in their courses. Of course, instructors may provide feedback to students at any time, 24/7, throughout the semester, using the manual flag/kudos/referral raising feature.
- How will I know if my instructor or advisor has raised a flag on my behalf?
You will receive an immediate notification to your BGSU email when your instructor or advisor raises a flag, kudos, or referral on your behalf. Please check your email at least 1x week, and, should you receive a successnet notification, read it carefully and follow the directions quickly and thoroughly.
