High School Component

The 2014 Latino Issues Conference will feature a specialized track for participating high school students. We are extending a special invitation to 10th and 11th grade Hispanic/Latino/a high school students as well as nominated ninth graders to attend (which includes any chaperones and/or instructors). The specialized track will be focused on leadership development and role modeling. The track will consist of two plenary sessions and the conference luncheon that features our Keynote Speaker, Richard Blanco. The conference is free for participating High School students.

Letters to different area High Schools were mailed recently. If you are interested in having students from your school participate in this year’s conference, please contact Gabe Lomeli at 419-372-9468. We need to confirm the final participants by Monday, March 31st at the latest. High Schools are encouraged to contact Gabe with their final number of participating students.

We understand that due the severe winter weather and the resulting school closings, that some schools are not allowing students to be excused in order to attend the conference. We are committed to providing an opportunity for any interested High School student, whether it is at this year's Latino Issues Conference or at a future event.  We are prepared to provide a more tailored opportunity for any students that are able to attend.
