University Dining Services welcomed Robert Swanson to the position of Associate Director of Dining Services for Business Affairs on March 30th. Bob is a Certified Public Accountant with the State of Ohio and holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University. Student Affairs welcomes Bob to the University Dining Services family.
Daria Blachowski-Dreyer, Associate Director of Dining Services, and Linda Duda, Interim General Manager, traveled to Andrews University on March 10th, a Seven-day Adventist college in Berrien Springs, Michigan. The purpose of the trip was to visit the predominantly vegetarian/vegan campus’ newly remodeled dining facilities. The trip provided Daria and Linda the opportunity to review some of their menu items for use on-campus to refresh BGSU’s vegetarian/vegan options. University Dining Services is providing services next summer for vegetarian/vegan diners. Moreover, vegetarian/vegan recipes will assist University Dining Services in the menu development for this group.
Seventeen University Dining Services’ staff successfully passed the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification training session on-campus March 9-10. The National Certification in Sanitation was created through the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, which is recognized as the leading steward of the restaurant and food service industry. Training consisted of food service coordinators, cashiers, cooks, storekeepers and administrative managers.
Nancy Joseph, Associate Director for Dining Services, Susan Sadoff and Magdy AbouZied, Managers, attended the NACUFS Midwest Regional conference held by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, March 15-18.
