NCBI Workshop - Part 1 (student only)

NCBI is a diversity workshop model designed to create a more inclusive campus environment. Participants will acquire practical skills for shifting prejudicial attitudes and learn how to become more effective allies for one another. Part One of the workshop helps participants celebrate their similarities and differences and recognize the misinformation they learn about various groups, while Part Two explores the personal impact of discrimination and provides hands-on tools for dealing effectively with bigoted comments and behavior. All students who sign in at entry and attend the entire session will receive Ziggy Points.

JAZZ WEEK: Jazz Lab Band 1 with Vibraphonist Dave Samuels

BGSU Jazz Lab Band I performs with guest artist, Dave Samuels, vibraphonist.  Look at his resume and one understands the broad scope of what he will bring to campus. He has performed and recorded with artists ranging from Gerry Mulligan, Oscar Peterson, Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Carla Bley and Pat Metheny to the Yellowjackets, Bruce Hornsby, Frank Zappa, The Fantasy Band and Spyro Gyra.  A versatile performer and educator, Dave will be our guest for jazz week, performing with the Faculty group, the Lab Band, and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.  He will give clinics in both percussion and improvisation.

20th Latino Issues Conference

In 1995, the first Latino Issues Conference (LIC) was held as an opportunity to dialogue about the future growth and needs of the Hispanic/Latino community in an “inclusive discourse for the 21st century”. Since the first conference, the LIC has continued to remain true to this legacy of providing an opportunity to dialogue about the needs within the Hispanic/Latino community.

The Sanctuary Institute: Trauma Theory and Parallel Process of Recovery

Travis Roy: Meeting Challenges - Setting the Pace Lecture Series

In 1995, Travis Roy took to the ice for his first Boston University hockey game. Eleven seconds after the puck dropped, Travis found himself lying on the ice, paralyzed. Hear Travis speak about the challenges he has overcome since the accident, leading him to earn a degree, write a book and raise over $3 million to improve the lives of spinal cord injury survivors and fund medical research.

The Safe Zone Program at Bowling Green State University promotes awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans* (LGBT) people. The program’s main goal is to build support networks of allies for BGSU’s LGBT Community.
