Scholarships for Latinos

To date there are currently five scholarships established here at BGSU to help our Latino students pursue their dreams of a college education. Each scholarship has been uniquely designed to honor the individuals and to commemorate the various contributions and efforts that were made to promote the presence and advancement of current and future Latinos here at BGSU.

BGSU Latino Scholarship Funding Opportunities:

  • Dr. Rene Ruiz Scholarship - Latino undergraduate, enrolled full time, minimum GPA 2.50
  • Dr. Miguel Ornelas Scholarship - Latino heritage, minimum GPA 3.00
  • Dr. Antonio Buron Scholarship - Latino student that is in good standing.
  • Dr. Rolando Andrade Scholarship - Latino Student Union President, enrolled full time, minimum GPA 2.25
  • Diamante Award- Preference given to Latino, minimum GPA 2.50 or 2.7.

In an effort to continue to honor and enhance the opportunities created by these very outstanding Latino Faculty/Staff. We, as well as our honorees recognized the financial responsibility that is being transferred from state funding to the student. Therefore, it is our responsibility as Latinos, as a Community, to continue to support these existing scholarships. Contributions to the scholarships of your choice serve to strengthen and continue the efforts to promote the presence and advancement of our fellow Latinos.
